Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
4.0

Probably the book I felt deserves a second read the most in my life. And I've read a few hundreds of books.

I have not much to say that hasn't been said. I didn't find it difficult but obscure, I felt the lack of a more large plot badly but did love the metaphorical way it is written in. I mostly loved the wording, some passages are amazingly beautiful, and didn't find it racist at all (if this is racist, all history's books about colonialism are).

Yet I was amazingly disengaged for more than half the book. Conrad doesn't write in a compelling way, at all. I never felt that I was waiting for the moment I could open the book again to see what happens next. And yet I am thinking already of rereading it. Amazing
