This could have been so cute, but I still have no idea why this was accepted for publishing. The entire premise sounds a lot like manipulation of other people, and only furthers the misconception of science robbing everything that's magic from life—love might technically be a chemical reaction and all that, but, if you're writing a YA book, that's not the path you should want to follow. Being considerate of your audience, especially your target audience is important, and this is not what you want to teach young girls.
