The Lost Library by Rebecca Stead, Wendy Mass

5.0

This is one of the best Middle-Grade books I've read in a LONG time! I loved everything about this book. It was so sweet and wholesome, and just an absolute pleasure to read.

Was it predictable? Sure, but since I'm reading this as a 43-year-old adult, that's to be expected. It may not be quite as predictable for the intended age group.

I think what I loved most about this story is there is no real antagonist. No one is trying to sabatoge anyone. There's no big drama or bullying. It's just a sweet mystery about a boy trying to find out what happened to his town's library, which burned down 20 years prior. With the help of his best friend, a guilt-riddled cat, a few ghosts, and some mice, Evan sets out to find the truth and set right a wrong in his community.

I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone interested. I Look forward to reading more from these two authors, as I really enjoyed their writing style.
