The Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain
3.0
My mom read this book to my sister and I when we were younger, and I didn't remember much about the story. Now that I'm older I wanted to re-read this Mark Twain classic and see how it has withstood the passage of time.
Twain does a clever job mixing British royal history with a fictional story, all centered around Prince Edward switching places with a lonely street urchin named Tom Canty. My only complaint with the story is that it took some pretty unbelievable twists and turns that made the book lack credibility. Not my favorite Mark Twain novel, but it was still a fun, lighthearted read.
