Life After Life by Kate Atkinson
3.0

i was so confused. i listened to this book and was very certain that i had skipped ahead or inadvertently rewound. the author's device of giving our heroine another chance, paired with the exact repetition of a scene was almost the death of me.
that said, i stuck with it anxious to see how it all worked out.
oddly, it left me kind of flat. i lost track of which life we were living. the characters were not well drawn - they seemed created to play off the heroine rather than to be individuals. perhaps i am a hopeless pollyanna, but i expect even the most trying of personalities to have a streak of nobility. the young morris' unkind behavior should not have been tolerated. izzie needed a stern talking to. and the mother started out quite well and ended a sour, intolerant woman. why?
