I was throughly enraptured by Christians story. Fifty Shades Darker was my favorite in the original trilogy so I had super high expectations going into the MMC retelling. I also listened to this on audible and was impressed by the narrator. Here we get a deeper look at the abuse Christian faced as child and I cried my eyes out with that little boy. We also get a look into his integration with the Grey’s and how his adopted grandfather nurtured and helped heal a broken soul. His reflections on this time in his life are tragic and beautiful.
The way his relationship with Ana progresses is equally beautiful. It’s still super spicy as we all expect but the thoughts behind his actions were so much deeper than I initially thought. Christian Grey is forever in my favorite MMC’s of all time. Check your trigger warnings before hand please but, if you’re up for a story about a broken man healing through love, read this book.
