The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead

5.0

Now I know why this book received the recognition to did. It told the story of a (thought-to-be) well known time in U.S. history and made me angry that my history classes never taught about the reform schools and the treatment adolescents experienced.

It was definitely an intense read, but hearing, and knowing these stories is important.

Sometimes it switched between decades and I would have to go back a page because I missed the transition, but in the end, it all tied together perfectly.
