This is like a bad knock off of a few different popular fantasy books and yet the recipe still works just enough that I decided to finish it and give it two stars instead of one for being slightly entertaining.
We have Tamli- I mean Grim who is 500 years old and our insta love until we find out actually the insta love makes sense cause he erased our FMC’s mind of their previous meetings and is now planning to start a war for her in book 2 (sound familiar?) and then we have Oro who I think was supposed to have a slow burn with our FMC but watching paint dry is more interesting than his personality and he basically hated on Isla the whole time sooo not sure what happened there.
Then we have some polyjuice potion shit going on and some hunger game vibes (if hunger games was super lame) and oh did I mention we get no explanation for why anything is the way it is in the first place?
And now with all that being said I’m off to read the second book (I hate myself).
