I Fell in Love With Hope by Lancali
5.0
Have you ever finished a book and never felt more scene before? You sit and just stare because the book had such a deep rooted effect on you?
POV me after finishing I Fell in Love with Hope.
I feel like I read this book at the exactly correct time in my life. As i battle illness and feel so deeply related to all of these characters it was so deeply personal and because of that the effect it has on me was vast.
The characters are raw. Theyre struggling, they want to break free. They’re immature and mature, weak and strong, scared and SO SO SO courageous.
I think when you’re in the position to be so sick you know your life will end. You are on borrowed time. You feel like every breathe is hard, and because you’re so sick the people you meet and the friends you make are also sick and everyone around you is also dying…. it’s the loneliest time in the entire world.
The author did a beautiful job at illustrating the pain and triumph in these moments. I felt personally touched by the words in this novel.
I consumed via audiobook & after listening to 3 chapters i downloaded the book on KU so i could highlight because there was so much i needed to notate.
I recommend the audiobook ONLY for heavy audiobook listeners. I didn’t dislike it, but i feel like it could have been done better imo. I appreciate that the author read it, but it needed more emotion and less monotone imo. It would have been a 6 star for me if i enjoyed the audiobook more.
****Check trigger warnings before diving into this. It’s heavy there’s A LOT of sensitive topics. I.E., suicide, death, abuse, eating disorders, etc.
