I can't say that I really enjoyed this... The story has a sort of pretty ethereal quality, in which very little happens and you don't get to know the characters.
Stuff just sorta happens and characters act in whatever way the story needs them to. It's one of those books where the protagonist just figures things out with no inner thoughts about it or any hints.
I really can't think of anything else to say about it, other than it's an epic that should have spanned an entire series but instead is almost a novella. If Polgara the Sorceress was <200 pages, it would be the Forgotten Beasts of Eld.
