Coraline by Neil Gaiman
4.0

Such a creative story. I saw the movie a bit over a decade ago and always enjoyed the concept, even though it was a bit creepy. Now having read the original novel, I was brought back to the same sense of wonder, exploration, and unsettling atmosphere that Gaiman builds so expertly. The magic in the idea of a tunnel leading to a new world contrasted with the world being essentially a trap is not something I've seen often, especially in a way that hooked me as much as Coraline did. If you can handle the spooky creepiness, I definitely recommend this one.
