I really thought I wouldn't like this very much since I inadvertently read the sequel first. I thought the second book recapped this story enough that it wouldn't be worth reading. I was wrong. This was thoroughly enjoyable, even though some of the plot twists weren't surprises to me after doing the books out of order. Excellent narration. I appreciated the familiarity that came with some of the same narrators working on both books.
