Wow. This book really impacted me. I loved the atmosphere - there's an unsettling vibe right from the start that immediately made me suspect an unreliable narrator situation without being able to put my finger on exactly what was happening.
The book is incredibly emotive. The scene inside the school actually made me feel scared in a way I rarely ever feel when reading, despite frequenting horror and thrillers. The ending made me genuinely emotional and I just had to sit quietly for a few moments and absorb it before I could do anything. It's uncomfortable to admit just how relatable I found it. I honestly felt like crying.
Flipping back through to some key points after finishing the book was incredibly satisfying; the plot twist/reveal was really well threaded and not just clumsily done for shock value like most "thriller" type books.
I already can't wait to reread this one once I've let it settle for a while.
