Ultimately, I found this a soothing love story of family and penguins. To soothe is to have a calming effect or to lessen discomfort, and in order to calm there has to be a disquiet or discomfort that first exists. Veronica began life in harmony but due to World War II that harmony was soon dispelled. This is the story of her downs, ups, downs and up again, thanks to the penguins.

Easy to read, enjoyable to absorb, the tale is voiced by several people, Veronica, her grandson Patrick, and Terry the Penguin Blogger. Other characters play important roles and we learn more about each of them through Veronica's and Patrick's voices.

I am interested in reading Hazel Prior's first book (this one is her second), Ellie and the Harpmaker. You can learn a little bit about Hazel, her two books, and her harp playing by watching her short videos.
