Swear on This Life by Renée Carlino
4.0

◽️B O O K R E V I E W: Swear on this Life by Renee Carlino

“But if there’s a real heaven here on earth, then there has to be a hell too. Jax and I learned that the hard way.”

Renee Carlino is quickly becoming a favorite author and this is only my second book of hers.

A new book is published by an author named J. Colby and the book is EVERYWHERE. Emiline, an aspiring writer herself, picks it up at the suggestion of her roommate but she very quickly recognizes the story os her own life story.

Emiline’s childhood was a dark one and with details so specific. Emiline has kept her trauma and post close to her chest— not even her long-term boyfriend knows much about it, so she realizes this book had to have been written by her childhood best friend, Jace.

This book is told in two parts— reality and excerpts from the book that teach about Jace and Emilines past— told in the story of the characters of Emerson and Jackson.

I love love love this writing device. I love books ABOUT books anyway, but this was next level. I felt deeply connected to these characters and I just wanted the best for them both.

All in all I gave this one ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

I did not love this quite as much as my first Carlino book… but it was nearly perfect, to be honest, so it was very hard to follow. ◽️
