Hood Feminism: Notes from the Women That a Movement Forgot by Mikki Kendall
3.0
I’m grateful for how Mikki Kendall spoke to feminist issues like meeting the basic needs of food, safety, education, housing, and health care—as well as how policing presents a threat to Black, Indigenous, and other oppressed peoples. This book feels like a good conversation starter, especially as it reflects on today’s world. I would recommend folks read books like Angela Davis’ “Women, Race & Class” and Audre Lorde’s “Sister Outsider” along with it.
