I have to say that I didn't think I'd like this book as much as I did. I had heard it was a fake dating trope, which in all honesty isn't my favorite romance trope in the world. But eventually, as I kept hearing such great things about the story, I decided to pick it up to see what all the fuss was about. And I have to say, this book did not disappoint.

First of all, let me just say how funny the main character, Olive, is. She literally had me laughing out loud with her ramble-y trains of thought and general awkwardness. I'm not a woman in STEM, and the closest I'd come to being near the academic world was when I took some upper-level classes with graduate students in college, but I still felt I could relate to her in a lot of ways. The hero, Adam, was also entertaining, but in a different way. I loved watching him warm up to Olive and his gloom-and-doom exterior slowly melt away. And his blunt yet slightly-clueless nature (regarding some subjects) was pretty fun to read. I love a good sunshine and grump relationship trope, and Adam and Olive's relationship delivered

Basically, this book gave me exactly what I was looking for at the time: a quick, cute, lighthearted rom-com that had me smiling from ear to ear and genuinely made me laugh. I appreciated the academic setting and how Hazelwood took time to highlight the issues within the world of academia. And though I didn't think the reason for their fake relationship was all that believable, I think this is the best fake-dating book I've ever read and it made me like the trope a lot more!
