Fuel the Fire
by Krista Ritchie, Becca Ritchie
4.5★ (rounding down only bc i was genuinely sick to my stomach reading parts of this book)
Can I just start with the fact that I love Connor Cobalt? I know it was a whole thing that Lilo idolized Connor and all that, but he is genuinely god-like to me. I have never loved or been more in awe of Richard Connor Cobalt.
For starters, this man ANNOTATED EVERYONE'S FAVORITE BOOKS as his Christmas present?? If that doesn't already tell you the kind of man he is, idk how else to explain it. I got the main plot of this novel spoiled for me, but I'm honestly so grateful bc I would not have been able to handle being blindsided like that. This man is so unbelievably strong and confident, and I wish I had even an ounce of the ability to carry myself the way he does. Parts of this book felt so violating, but it was Connor's reactions that showed me what it meant to be resilient.
As for Rose, I loved her in this book. She is such a complex but caring character and I think this book did such a good job at showing that caring and protective side of her. The love Rose has for her kid, her sisters, and Connor is so beautifully shown. That being said, she was an absolute cutthroat badass and I aspire to be just like her one day.
Now, everyone outside the core eight may have sucked, but my boy Lo did NOT disappoint. His snarkiness was through the roof in this book and I enjoyed every minute of it. Ryke was perfect as always as were WILLOW AND GARRISON, MY FAVES. We got Gillow crumbs, but I ate up every single one, bc they served. Once again KBR was on a Daisy hate train and the ending was emotional af, and even though I was so frustrated throughout half the book, I adored every minute of it.
