Onyx and Ivory by Mindee Arnett
3.0

Onyx and Ivory is the newest Fantasy read by author Mindee Arnett whose other novels include A Nightmare Affair and Proxy.

The story focuses on Kate Brighton a wilder who can control the minds of animals. Although she sounds quite intriguing I felt Kate's character was quite one dimensional. I didn't feel an emotional bond with her or any of the other characters, which unfortunately made me unbothered with what happened to them.
The plot was well written in parts and there are plenty of twists and turns that I did not find predictable.

The antagonist changes throughout the novel as the plot develops and the characters learn more. This did ensure that you keep reading Until the end of the book to find out who the true enemy is.

The love arc between Kate and Corwin Just fell a bit flat for me. There was no whirlwind romance and I didn't feel any deep emotions come through when they were together.

This book was a 3/5 for me. Although the plot held plenty of twists and turns the fact that the characters were quite one dimensional made the story lack emotion. I would pick up the second novel in the series but I'm not waiting with bated breath for it to come out.
