The second volume of Persepolis was very moving and thought provoking, but it just didn't hold all of the same magic of the first volume for me. I realize Volume 2 deals with some heavier issues, but it lacked the humor and tenderness of the first volume that I thought really made Satrapi's story unique. I also felt that the book ended on an unsatisfying note that made it seem unfinished. I enjoyed seeing Satrapi grow up and have to put her values to the test, but the stories just feel less memorable, and though there's something very human about ignoring your own values sometimes, it gets pretty depressing when it's most the book.
