*I am aware of the controversy surrounding this book*

However, I do truly believe in the separation of art from its inspiration. I loved the whimsical nature of this story. Oh, how I fell in love with all the children so quickly. I’d seen so many reviews and videos about this book, many positive, and even they could not prepare me for the utter devotion I have for magical children that don’t exist in reality.

I loved the positive queer representation. I would love an Arthur or Zoe as a guide for my life.

I also really found it interesting that little snippets of themes from Orwell’s 1984 were dotted throughout the book. It made the book have many talking points.

What a fond reading experience I had with this book. I laughed many times and wow, give this book a go. I think it just may surprise you in the best way.
