I usually don't gravitate towards very flowery, poetic writing, still I quite enjoyed reading this. Basically an introspective story on love and heartbreak, making references to mythology, philosophy and literature, a lot of it flew over my head. Smith's love for that man was overflowing from the pages, but honestly I did not really understand why it was him specifically she chose to sacrifice so much for. We only know him from her point of view, and he does not sound great.
