dark emotional sad tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: N/A

This book is full of triggering actions, such as: abusive parents, violent, and suicidal thought. Some of them are presented explicitly, some are not. Despite all, this is one of my unexpected books to read. A lot of surprising scenes and dialogues will always come. There are also sad and high tense narration. I am not suggesting this to those who aren't okay with the trigger warnings I mentioned above.

The character, Salva or Ava (6), surprises me a lot throughout the process of reading because she is really good at talking. She has unexpected mind. She is adorable. Actually I have seen many smart kids around me, but Ava is special. I hope there won't be more Salva(s) and P or Pepper(s) (10) out there because they do not deserve to experience cruel things like in this book.

Besides enjoying the characters and plots, this book shows how big our action will impact as adults to children. How traumatized they are to receive such painful treatments from their parents. This book also shows that not everyone is ready to be parents.

And the most fun part of this book is when Ava being a language genius. She reads dictionary a lot which makes her head full of Indonesian words that she heard, she read, she found. I mean, for a kid like Ava, she is pretty strong to stay sane and still wants to read book in the middle of the chaos in her family.
