Who's That Girl?: A Memoir by Eve

4.0

Since Eve came on the scene I have been a fan, I didn't pay attention to tabloids to know about her personal life but I enjoyed her music. This memoir, I listened to, because she was narrating. It felt like we were two ladies just hanging out and she was telling me stories about her life. I think her memoir was to the point, there wasn't any fluff, any information about anyone else, if they didn't cross her path/aid/hinder her in any way they weren't mentioned. There were some times when I got confused with timelines when she would shift stories but then I thought about how so many of us chat with our friends many times when catching people up on our lives our story isn't linear there are sidebars, back tracking for context, etc. I enjoyed this glimpse into Eve's life and even had moments of "oh yeah that's right"...she did do this and that and have a Tv show or clothing line that I completely forgot about over the years. Over the years there are so many conversations surrounding women in the rap game and I am always pleased to hear Eve's name mentioned and this memoir while it's not long, super indepth or filled with profound quotes and analysis, it's her accolades listed and wrapped and tucked between two covers.
