Enter Ghost by Isabella Hammad

5.0

It has been a few days since I finished this book but it has haunted me ever since. Therefore I've upgraded my rating from 4 stars to 5.

I adore theatre and books about theatre, Hamlet in the West Bank is an immediate hook for me. A slower paced novel, the story gradually unfolds but I felt like this enhanced my orientation for the setting and complexity of the political climate. I enjoyed the format switching from prose to transcript for rehearsals, this is something I am familiar with reading but others may find this disorientating. The continued metaphor of this novel snuck up on me in places, I felt like Hammad drove her point home excellently. This has left me with a lot to think about and I need to pick up more books by this author.
