The Sound Of Forever by Katherine Jay
5.0

“If you want me to forget you, I need more time. I need forever.”

Immediate thoughts:
My heart broke, before it was finally put back together.
I was completely blown away with how it all fit together - it was beautiful, heartbreaking, raw, angsty and emotional!

Tropes:
Small town (meets big city), romantic suspense, forbidden, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, second chance, ANGST, secrets, hockey, amnesia, slowburn, he falls first and harder, strong FMC.

ARC review:
An emotional, heartbreaking and angsty story with so much character growth, suspenseful twists, and a beautiful and raw journey towards their HEA. I had a lot of unanswered questioned after the first book and while reading this I only got more, but all the questions got answered along the way and I am completely blown away by the beauty of this story. It was very layered and complex, but all the answers were portrayed in such a good way and the whole story evolve unexpectedly but so well. All in all, it gave an amazing story.

My mind may not remember him, but my heart always did.

This book picked up right where ‘The sound of silence’ left off, and I was very anxious while reading to see just what would happen and how it would all fit together. The road towards their HEA was not easy, but I am so happy with the ending, that it was worth all the hurt and angst throughout.

“No matter what you do from here on out, you’ll always remain my hero. Your strength, your courage, your heart. You are everything I never knew I needed but the one person I always missed.”

Both Jesse and Willow are broken and haunted by their past, but their connection is undeniable - they were soulmates and had that deep-seated forever kind of love. Jesse was such a good guy, but he came from a troubled past and had his demons to fight. I love how he cared so deeply for Willow and had a lot of patience and understanding and worked so hard to be better; to be the man Willow deserved (and who he was at his core). Willow was so incredibly strong, and I LOVED seeing her fighting and finally shredding the mask she has worn for so long. Both Jesse and Willow had their work cut out for them, but it was so beautiful seeing how they healed both individually and together and finally found their way back to each other.

“Fuck, Willow. Why is this so different? Why is everything with you so different? So amazing, so perfect.”
“Because we fit, because this is meant to be. And I know we’ll get through anything.”

This was raw and a roller coaster of emotions. The writing is fantastic and pulled me in immediately. The mix of suspense, angst, spice and so much love was very well balanced, and my heart broke before Katherine expertly put it back together again. This story will be with me for a very long time and Jesse and Willow own my heart completely!
