Heart of the Sun Warrior by Sue Lynn Tan
4.0
The sequel to The Daughter of the Moon Goddess, Heart of the Sun Warrior by Sue Lynn Tan did not disappoint the expectations I had from the first of the duology, though I would say I prefer the prequel more.
I shamelessly teared up so many times reading the heart-wrenching parts, amazed how the author managed to stir emotions in me. I felt Xingyin’s anger, fear and most of all sorrow.
Also, I appreciate how Xingyin is portrayed to have loved two people at the same time, that a heart can be divided. She wasn’t a cheater neither was it infidelity. She struggled within herself with guilt and that it is possible to not know what the heart wants. It may be frustrating but that happens.
The plot was interesting, I like the setting and characters involved. Perhaps I had watched too many TVB dramas when I was younger that these scenes came to me easily and I really loved it although I wished I could read faster at some parts like how I would fast forward on Netflix.
