The Goddess Test by Aimée Carter
2.0

I actually started to enjoy this book from the very beginning. Sadly, it went quickly went downhill.

Kate was a good heroine at first: she was strong, did not have any annoying habits (imo) and she seemed to be the kind of girl you could really admire and root for.

However, halfway into the book, I started to dislike how slow she was when it came to putting the piece together and also I didn't really understand why she was so mad at some of the other characters (then again I never did relate well to melodramatic teens).

Another complaint of mine was the portrayal of the Greek mythologies. I love the myths, and I consider myself to know at least most of the basics.

By the end of the book, I was greatly annoyed with the gods'/goddess' uncharacteristic behaviours and how bland the personalities seemed.

Also, a big let down were the tests. I seriously thought that they would be a lot more epic. Apparently, doing practically everyday tasks can count as climactic tests. Honestly, it should've been something more meaningful like, accepting death (particularly her mother's), since she is going to be the goddess of the underworld, right?

I could go on about Henry, but this review is from my iPhone and I can't type nearly as well as I can on my laptop, so I'll conclude! =D

The book's concept and beginning were pretty good. It was the characters, implementation of the Greek myths and the anticlimactic ending that really unwound the book though.

Sad to say, I don't think I will be picking up the next book of the series.
