Tiffany D. Jackson is, without a doubt, one of the best YA authors of our day.

“Grown” was dark and gripping, keeping readers on the edge of their seat as the story of Enchanted unfolds. I absolutely loved how Jackson takes great pains to constantly reiterate that Enchanted is a child, never allowing any leeway for victim blaming, as well as highlighting how rape culture disproportionately affects Black women. I also think this book does a great job really showing the paranoia and anxiety that comes from gaslighting and abusive relationships, topics that are so important not to shy away from in young adult books.

This story is immensely powerful and beautifully written, these characters will have a lasting impact, and I’m so glad stories like these are being written and published today.
