This book is said to be a sci-fi book for those that don't like sci-fi. Well, I'm not a huge fan of sci-fi and I LOVE The Host. I reread this (after having read it the first time around in 2008) and it took me a long time because I just have not been into reading this month.
I will warn you. I've had many people comment that they started this, couldn't get into it, and gave up. In 2008 I almost did the same thing. It's hard to get into at first but the beginning is needed to explain some back story. But once you get into it it pulls you in. The world that Wanderer and Melanie find, the love triangle, the fight for survival - it will all pull you in.
And PLEASE do me a favor. Read the book. Don't go see the movie. The movie was simply "eh" and they changed way too much of it for my taste.
The book though? Is wonderful.
