i see this becoming a favourite of mine. love thompson's style of writing here. it's quite dense but not through verbosity but through heavy use of references of the time and long rambly tangents. it kind of reminds me of kesey's writing in Cuckoo's Nest (though that may just be a result of similar time periods and subject matters) but with a much quicker pace and visceral language, while still maintaining that underlying drug-fueled paranoia. a fair bit of it went over my head i feel but i don't mind re-reading this to get a better understanding it, for now i'll just enjoy the trip.
