I was honestly captivated by this book. I reached a point where I didn’t want to put it down.
Honestly the biggest issue I had with the book is something I also think was smartly handled. The book basically ends exactly when the Long Walk ends. We don’t see anything further of Garrett. What his life is like after. If he even has a life after. Etc. And I wanted to see that. I wanted to see what it’s like for someone who wins. But I think King intentionally ended it there. Because that’s what the Long Walk is for the people in this world. A big meaningless walk where 99 boys die for nothing and then they move on until the next one. It’s a smart decision to really add on to the bleakness.
