The King's Spinster Bride
by Ruby Dixon
Loved this novella! Apparently it was published in 2018 and I never noticed it before - maybe because it’s part of the Anchor and Aspect series, which I didn’t care for? (I tried book 1 a few years ago.) I recognized the cover as matching her orc book, which I also loved, so I picked it up.
This is older woman, younger man - where the woman is a princess who saved the man when he was a boy, after his father killed hers amidst a war. Since then she’s been living in exile… but now his father is dead, he’s the king, and he wants her.
She’s his, she’s always been his. AND IT IS WONDERFUL.
He’s a Cyclopae (I may have spelled that wrong) - which I thought was a fun twist on the “cyclops” monster in that these warriors GIVE UP an eye to their God when they reach a certain age / prove themselves. I’m intrigued by this world, I’ll admit.
