The Times I Knew I Was Gay
by Eleanor Crewes
I want all straight people to read this. I don't think straight people - or even some queer people, depending on their journeys - realize that coming out to YOURSELF does not always happen in a moment. There is struggle. There is denial. As children we see what is normal and what is socially acceptable, and we know to hide the parts of ourselves that don't fit the mold - queer, mentally ill, gender non-conforming, whatever it may be. This graphic novel depicts the roller coaster to coming out, even when it seems "obvious." Very well done.
