In the Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken
5.0
So. Freaking. Good. SO FREAKING GOOD.
I don't agree with people saying In The Afterlight has Third-Book-Syndrome. I understand what they mean when they say it took them longer to finish it, cause i struggled with that too at first, but i don't think it makes it any less of a great book.
I think it had to do with the fact that this book is very heavy, and less funny and light than the other two. It deals with darker topics and it's full of angst and anger, but that just makes the last 200 pages the best payoff you could have ever wished for.
It's difficult to wrap up a trilogy, expecially a dystopian in which the world is in scrambles, without leaving readers perplexed, or a bit disappointed, but i feel In The Afterlight tied all the pieces together and gave us the best plausible solution to a crazy situation.
#THIS NOW GETS SPOLIERY, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED#
I've put so many page flags into this book i don't even know where to start with the favorite scenes.
There was the reunion with Zu (holy crap do i LOVE Zu), Liam and Ruby's makeout session in the pantry at the Ranch, Cole using his Red abilities, Ruby and Zu talking about their "bad place" and every single scene in the last 200 pages.
I loved how Vida and Ruby's relationship developed, and well as Ruby and Cole's and i even (kind of, not really) enjoyed the angst between Liam and Ruby (like, come on, just forgive each other already.)
Great character development, great plot, GREAT FINALE I LOVED THIS BOOK I'M SO SAD IT'S OVER.
