A novel that I love to hate (for all the right reasons). I think at some point I was saying this bitch every other page. I have never felt anger last like this while reading and it felt so good. I know some people might not be fond of the ending but I think it felt realistic and fitting for the type of novel R.F. Kuang was going for. Although I would recommend this novel, I will admit it did lag in the middle (refer to: June’s doom scrolling).
Graphic: Hate crime, Racism, Sexism, Xenophobia, Cultural appropriation
Moderate: Bullying, Death, Misogyny, Panic attacks/disorders, Racial slurs, Violence, Toxic friendship
Minor: Eating disorder, Rape, Sexual assault
