Hudson's Luck by Lucy Lennox

Look, maybe my expectations were very high because the cover and everything gave me Leap Year and PS: I Love You vibes and those are some of my favourite (romcom) movies, so when it wasn't that i was a bit disappointed. That's on me. Now, for the book itself.

Hudson was an absolute sweetheart and i really liked him, but Charlie was too childish for me to really care for him (a few spoilers ahead so tread carefully).
SpoilerI got bored really fast of Hudson saying something that was easily misunderstood, Charlie making the biggest deal out of it and not letting him explain before storming out and not talking to him for 4 days. I get that some people like miscommunication as a trope but to me this was a bis lazy.

I found the pacing a bit weird. They go through this "I've never felt this attracted to anyone in my entire life and I can't stop thinking about him" since the moment they met, and it's not exactly insta-love but it's too close to it for me to believe it. Again, some people love insta-love and that's absolutely fine, I just don't like the extreme feeling in 2 days.

SpoilerThe "I want to be with you, but we can't, but I don't care, but I actually do, but it's impossible, but we'll make it work" of their relationship was just too much, and after like 30% of it I just ended up almost skipping any part that involved them fighting and going to the part where they actually talk about things.
The ending felt a bit rushed, like things were going fine, Charlie overreacts (again) and then everything goes to shit for 4 pages after ending in a happy ever after.
SpoilerAnd Devlin ending in hospital was just weird, like couldn't there be any other reason why Charlie has to go back to Ireland? I don't think it's mentioned again either so I don't know.
.

I don't want to say this was a bad book because i laughed at some parts and I really liked Hudson and some secondary characters (Darci, Doc and Hudson's grampa), but it just wasn't it for me.
