This one sounded so promising. Many, many great reviews.
The writing was so bumpy I couldn't get into the story. The book opens with the dead senator in his bed and the details of his murder were rather over-the-top. It was more gimmick than engaging story and that continued as far in as I got into the story.
The dialogue was rough, wooden, and odd at times. Enough so that instead of thinking about the story, I was thinking about the writing.
The characters' reactions (especially those to being asked for alibis) didn't feel realistic. Too much outage and tears and too little realism.
And how about that instalove that came from a one night stand 6 years before?
I scanned ahead to see how the story ended and felt no remorse at not hanging in.
