Another on the list of books I read because I love the film adaptation. I quite enjoyed the writing style of this, which is very introspective and has a pleasant flow. I literally underlined certain quotes because they resonated so heavily. However, I don't think this style is for everyone, particularly in relation to dialogue, and it's possible that it only worked so well for me because I'd already seen the show.

Every character is obviously flawed which I appreciated, and even after our main characters grow they still have flaws, but know now how to properly communicate during these times. At moments the pacing felt unbalanced, because this has a tendency not to dwell on any moment, good or bad. This can certainly make it an easy read but also lessens the emotional impact of things.

I enjoyed many aspects of the characters explored through the narration. Though I don't personally relate to them or their circumstances, Rooney has a way of writing about life that feels largely applicable to most people's experiences. It was an enjoyable and quick read for me and I am definitely going to read more from the author.
