I did not expect this to be as heart wrenching as it was. I won't lie I was a bit thrown off by the elephants on wheels, but everything else was just wondering. To the way we find out how dust works and how the specters are made via the Knife it all really comes together to make the last few chapters absolutely gut wrenching. Watching Will and Lyra realize how they feel about each other to have to rip it away in a matter of days hurt so much but also made so much sense due to the knowledge of how everything connects. A fantastic series of books can see why it's so popular.
