 This book is a great example of the shortcomings of star ratings. It was very good, and I was often miserable while reading it. At times I only continued because every time I tried to stop it haunted me--same sort of feeling that compelled me to finish my first King in high school.

If star ratings are meant to influence whether or not someone who cares about my opinion should read this book, then to my mom I give it 1 star, to Sanjana I give it 5.
