This book. Damn.

I *loved* it so much I went out and tracked down a secondhand copy of the Lithaven edition like my life depended on it. That’s how deep in it I was.

I’ve always been a sucker for a rockstar romance—the angst, the chaos, the moodiness—and Midnight Blue delivered on all of that *times a thousand*. Alex Winslow is the kind of messy, complicated, sharp-edged MMC that absolutely crawls under your skin and stays there. He’s arrogant, destructive, emotionally walled off—and somehow, still magnetic. Watching him learn that he’s not just capable of love, but *worthy* of it, felt so earned and satisfying.

Honestly, he’s such a little shit at times—and I say that in the most affectionate way possible. He shows different versions of himself depending on who he’s with, and that made his scenes with Indie all the more powerful. She’s not there to be impressed. She doesn’t fawn or fall at his feet. She’s grounded, focused, and not afraid to put him in his place. Their dynamic was electric—slow burn, tension-filled, and bursting with chemistry. I loved how Alex was so sure she’d fall into bed with him… and how Indie knew that when she did, it would change *everything*. (Spoiler: it *did.*)

Their travels on tour were so fun to read—chaotic, glamorous, and messy in the best way. The tension was always simmering under the surface, but there were also these quiet, thoughtful moments in unfamiliar cities and in-between spaces that made it feel real. Shen does an incredible job painting the emotional exhaustion of fame and addiction while still delivering swoony, unforgettable romance.

This book took me on a ride and I loved every second. Easily a five-star read. No notes. Just me, feral for broken musicians and the strong women who make them feel something again.
