Palace of Treason by Jason Matthews

3.0

On the second reading, I find the book was not quite as good as I remember. There are plenty of good anecdotes, and there are the recipes, but then there is the description of clothes, and the physical look of people. These parts get a little tedious. The characters are delightful, and Hannah, the new character on Nate's team is interestingly developed. The careerists in both services do provide some interesting contrast with the important characters. The antagonists are a little weak, particularly the new Angevine, but also the previously revealed Zyuganov. I enjoyed re-reading this chapter of the trilogy, and compared to the movie, which is probably just the first volume, the books are so much better. Hopefully, the third episode of this trilogy will meet the expectations of my memory of the first reading.
