Smoke and Mirrors: Short Fictions and Illusions by Neil Gaiman
3.0
It's hard to rate a collection of stories. I first heard "Chivalry" on the podcast LeVar Burton Reads. I loved how quirky it was. I dreaded reading the poetry in this book. I tried to read them but I just do not like poetry. I just don't understand it. I really liked the stories that were influenced by Lovecraft. Especially "Only the End of the World Again" with Lawrence Talbot as the main character. I love the homage to the original Wolfman movie. "Nicholas Was..." was one on the most horrifying short stories I have ever read. "Snow, Glass, Apples" was definitely my favorite story in the whole book. It has everything I like: fairy tale retellings, a villain that was not really a villain, and vampires!
Overall, I would recommend.
