Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera: Mexican Modern Art by Helga Prignitz-Poda

4.0

I am awestruck and intrigued.

Helga Prignitz-Poda looks at the history of twentieth century Mexican Art and the collections that shaped it, these paintings made me stare for long moments soaking in the beauty, the complexity, the feelings that rise from them. And Prignitz-Poda does well with curating and explaining the history and connection between these pieces. Shedding light not only on Kahlo and Rivera but on those around them, influenced by them and competed with and I now have many research holes to fall down with Mexican history and these artists stories and work.
