Did not finish book. Stopped at 34%.
I'm really sad about this one, but there was so much wrong with it.
this first one really does not matter but it was still weird. Was LaDelle sponsored by Ford or something?? between Dani's last name being Ford and both mc's driving Fords and when they mention it we get two separate praise paragraphs about how great Ford is??? Ford sucks ass first of all. also I just??
Prince praises himself for being a feminist and all that... but he's not. on one page, he is completely trashing this girl's looks just because she likes him and he doesn't like him back. on the literal next page, Prince thinks that his friends are all misogynistic. bestie go look in the mirror?
I also just had such a hard time remembering that I was reading a YA book. the way these characters, particularly the male characters, talk about women and relationships is far beyond a 17yo. it just irked me.
going off of the previous thing, one of Prince's friends is a teen dad... and LaDelle is pro-teen pregnancy. in no way is that okay. Dani tells Prince that she doesn't want to be with a guy with a kid because she's SEVENTEEN (albeit rudely) and Prince goes off on her. Her dad goes off on her. what the fuck? where was she wrong? we do not need to be telling teenagers that it is okay to be getting pregnant in high school, assuming they had all the ways not to. teenagers and young adults need to live their lives before they start raising a new one.
