The Last Graduate by Naomi Novik
5.0

A cliffhanger? Really? And a huge one of that. I have to percolate on this for a little while. It’s really good. 4.5 stars. Some of the character development is more uneven this time around. Yet I do like some of the changes and the places where some of the kids find themselves.

Many mysteries have arisen. What happened to Orion Lake and why was El supposed to stay away from him? Was it really necessary to destroy the school? Isn’t that a short term gain at the cost of destroying a hard built long-term solution? The builders and the families and the enclaves aren’t going to all be happy about this. What happened to Bangkok? Who is the true enemy waiting in the wings? How will the world order feel about El trying to shake things up? Why in the world was I captivated by a teen romance?

Again, Novik has confounded me. I’m off to grab the latest book.
