mysticforestcrafts 's review for:
A Forbidden Alchemy
by Stacey McEwan
Pros:
This book really allows you to feel the pull between both sides of a war when both are incredibly dangerous.
This feels at least partly inspired by The Hunger Games with having the rebellion begin with coal miners. I like that this has a vastly different time period and magic in place of technology like planes or television.
Cons:
While it’s understandable, I hate that a huge part of the problem of this story is miscommunication or lies however you want to think of it. I fully get why the lies happened. I can’t say that anyone would have done differently but feeling the impending doom and knowing that it could at least partly be handled with some blunt truth is painful.
