Overall it wasn’t bad. I think the author did a good job of keeping the novel engaging, there was never a time that I was bored. What I found impressive was that, for the most part, the author provided well timed and purposeful flashbacks. Some of the other books I’ve read in this genre made it feel like filler for the page. The only issue I have with the book is that I was never really shocked I guess? Then there’s the fact that the author could have set the readers up for a BEAUTIFUL character analysis. Letting the readers draw their own conclusions for why Jess behaved the way she did, but instead in the very beginning had Jess explain to the readers that she’s fueled by the need to be perfect, to be the best.
