Fake Marriage To My Bad Boy Billionaire by Noelle Stone

3.5

This book was kindly sent to me by Reedsy Discovery in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

What happens in Vegas doesn’t always have to stay in Vegas…

Kate has been working as tech billionaire Alex Craft’s assistant for what feels like forever, and she’s about at the end of her tether - he’s infuriating, demanding and moody, and asks way more of her than he should an assistant. And he’s drop-dead gorgeous. With an important Vega trip on the horizon, Kate is looking forward to finally handing in her resignation upon their return. Only, a night out in Vegas leads to way too much alcohol and an impromptu wedding. A wedding that is splashed all over the media. It’s a nightmare to say the least, but then Alex has a request - they stay married while he visits his family and attends the wedding of his ex who is still isn’t completely over. With a big fat cheque on the cards if she agrees to play along, there’s not much more Kate has to lose by playing along with the ruse. Alex’s family welcome Kate in with open arms, and as Kate and Alex play happily married, their underlying attraction towards one another begins to bubble to the surface and it’s not long before there’s nothing fake about their relationship…

Always down for a boss/employee romance OR a fake marriage romance, so when they come together in the one book? Yeah, I’m reading that! Noelle delivered a swoony and spicy opposites attract romance with all the sexual tension and forced proximity you’d expect with both the major tropes.

Unfortunately, I was expecting SO much more out of this book and it just didn’t reach my expectations. While I did enjoy Alex and Kate’s relationship overall, there were several moments that just didn’t hit the mark and it really brought down the flow of the book. The beginning of the book and their initial professional and personal relationship definitely needed more developing as we jumped so quickly into their fake marriage. And then the development of their romance felt a bit rushed at times and like we skipped a few steps or more time of mutual pining and build-up.

In saying that, Alex and Kate’s relationship and their journey from faking it to making it real, and dealing with the obstacles that came with that, was an enjoyable one to read overall. They had great chemistry and Noelle served up some deliciously spicy scenes for our leading couple. And on top of Kate’s relationship with Alex, I also really enjoyed seeing Kate’s relationships develop with Alex’s family.

While I wanted to see so much more with this book, it was still such an enjoyable romance read that is definitely one my fellow romance girlies need to check out.
